Overview
JMIR Publications and Iowa State University (ISU) have signed an institutional membership agreement running from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2025. Iowa State University's Open Access fund will pay for the first $1000 of the Article Processing Fee (APF) for any eligible article accepted for publication during this agreement. To be eligible, the corresponding author must be affiliated with ISU and list ISU in their institutional affiliation line.
If the APF exceeds $1000, full coverage of the APF is available for ISU authors who have no external grant funding. To request full coverage, please follow the instructions in the next section.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the funding, when your article is submitted please make sure that you:
- list Iowa State University as the author's affiliation in the article metadata and
- select Iowa State University from the drop-down list of institutional members
You do not need to apply for Open Access funding via Iowa State University.
Details of the Agreement
This is a multipayor cost-sharing agreement. Iowa State University will cover the intial $1000 of the Article Processing Fee for any eligible paper. Authors are typically responsible for covering the remainder. However, ISU may cover the remainder for authors who have no external grant funding. Iowa State University is exempt from our standard 7% handling fee and is protected from annual APF price increases for the length of the agreement. ISU is also invited to pilot ongoing and future initiatives, such as our Plan P publishing model.
