I agreed to review an article but realized I have a conflict of interest. How can I cancel?

• Note that if you as reviewer have a "mild" conflict of interest (COI), you may still be able to submit your detailed review, but declare your COI in the review form under "Comments for Editor", section II.2. For example, "I am the author of the paper which they critique in the discussion, but otherwise I have no COIs".
• If you think your COI is so strong that you cannot give a constructive or unbiased opinion ("the first author is my wife"), you can use the blue Extend/Cancel button to cancel the review request. It will ask for the reason and you can chose the "Conflict of Interest" section. We still appreciate if you nominate alternate reviewers.
• If the editor already made a decision, you won't be able to cancel (the form will say so).
• If you recuse yourself by cancelling, please nominate alternative reviewers, if you have any ideas
• Please also take the opportunity to update your reviewing interests and enter your ORCID
