The preferred way is that all coauthors should create their ORCID at http://orcid.org/register), then create a profile within JMIR Publications (http://www.jmir.org/login) and enter/authorize their ORCID there (How do I add an ORCID to my JMIR User Profile?). If the email address of a user matches the email address of a coauthor on a submitted/accepted paper, then the ORCID of that user will be automatically added to the coauthor data on that paper. If you are the corresponding author, please send your coauthors these instructions, and make sure you used the same email address in your submission as used by the coauthor in their profile.
If coauthors do not want to create a profile at JMIR, then the submitting author needs to enter the ORCIDs of their co-authors in the metadata form, at any time on or after submission. This is also necessary if a coauthor is sick, incapacitated, or cannot create a profile at JMIR.
As submitting author, login to your account and then...
- Under Roles click "Author"
- Click on the TItle of your Article to take you to view it
- Scroll down to the "Submission Metadata" section
- Click on "Edit Metadata"
- Enter the ORCIDs in the appropriate ORCID field for each author where it is missing
If you have any concerns, please feel free to send an inquiry to tech-support@jmir.org
