How should the "Conflicts of Interest" section be formatted?

The Conflicts of Interest (COI) section appears after the Acknowledgments and Authors’ Contribution sections, near the end of the article. All manuscripts must have a COI section; if authors haven’t included a COI statement in their manuscript, copyeditors need to ask them for one. 

Authors must declare conflicts of interests according to the journal guidelines outlined here:

Formatting guidelines

• The section should be titled “Conflicts of Interest”
• If the author states there is no conflict of interest, enter “None declared.”
• If the author provides a lengthy sentence that basically reports no conflicts of interest, replace the text with “None declared.”

For example:

• INCORRECT:

Conflicts of Interest

The authors do not have any personal financial interests related to the subject matters discussed in this manuscript.

• CORRECT:

Conflicts of Interest

None declared.
