Citing preprints in systematic reviews

We are expected to cite unpublished work as "personal communication by Name, Date" in the body of the text. How do I cite the preprints I used in my systematic review?

  Please cite preprints as you would journal references, not as unpublished work. Your copyeditor and production editor will ensure the preprint reference appears correctly in the typeset PDF. See here for our journal style for formatting references.
