- Do not put periods or spaces in degree abbreviations (Correct: MSc, MPH, MD, PhD; Incorrect: Ph.D., M.P.H., M Sc)
- We do not accept PhD candidate as a degree (ie, Incorrect: PhD (c), PhD (C), PhD (cand.), or PhD (ABD))
- Author degrees should be sorted from lowest to highest (“MPH, PhD”, not “PhD, MPH”). Use the arrow up/down buttons in the metadata form to change the order (top=first)
- Do not include degree specializations or concentrations in parentheses (ie, MSc, MD; not MSc (Geography), MD (Pediatrics). The following cases are exceptions to this rule:
- Honors degrees, ie, BSc (Hons)
- Grad diplomas, ie, Grad Dip (Geoinformatics)
- Board certifications
- Potentially: Fellowships
- Do not include job titles, such as "Professor", as a degree
- Note: the European degrees "Prof Dr" and "Dr med" are fine to use, if applicable
