We charge a small administrative fee of US$90 (invoiced as "Additional Editorial Work") if the author request to reinstate a manuscript, i.e. a previously archived/rejected/withdrawn manuscript has to be put back into the active manuscript queue, in the following cases:
- If an author withdraws a manuscript (or objects to a manuscript transfer) but later changes his mind and wants the manuscript reinstated.
- If an author fails to submit a revision, and fails to submit a request for deadline extension, so the manuscript is rejected due to not having received a revision, and the author wants the manuscript reinstated.
- If an accepted manuscript was not paid for more than 4 months it may be removed from the production queue. If a payment comes later, it may have to be reinstated.
- If an author is unresponsive to copyediting review or proofreading requests 2 months or more, we may mark the manuscript as withdrawn. It can only be reinstated by paying the fee.
- If any author signatures are missing on the License to Publish form for 6 months following acceptance, we may mark the manuscript as withdrawn. It can only be reinstated by paying the fee.
To request a manuscript reinstatement, please email support@jmir.org, quoting the ms number and saying that you are willing to pay the reinstatement fee.
