If you reviewed a paper but do not see the karma credits in your karma statement, the following can be possible reasons:
- Cached karma statement: Please wait at least one hour after getting the email of final acceptance/rejection of a paper. Your karma statement may be cached and not be updated yet
- Paper is not accepted/rejected yet: You only get karma credits after the entire peer-review process is completed, which may encompass multiple review rounds. You do not get karma points immediately after the first review. You get them after the final decision - acceptance (or rejection) - by the editor. To get all possible Karma Credits for reviewing a paper, you have to complete reviews for ALL re-review rounds, see Karma Description for details. Typically, after the first round of reviews, the editor forwards the review comments to the author and asks for a revision of the paper. This revision is then sent to the original reviewers if they entered a decision C, D or E in the previous round.
- Please watch for any invitations to re-review the revision of this paper, if applicable (and if you chose the decision C,D or E), and accept them, in order to collect your full credits.
- You can see the karma credits you earned so far for reviewing this paper in your Karma Statement.
- Only after the editor made a final decision A (accept) or E (decline), you will see the karma credits in your Karma Statement.
- Quality issues with your review: In rare cases, the editor may rate your review as being of insufficient quality, in which case you will not earn any credits for this review. Also, if you miss the review deadline, you may not earn credits for a review. Next time, follow the review instructions closely, and write more than a line or paragraph about a paper (provide a numbered list of issues). Do not focus on language editing.
- Duplicate/multiple user profiles: Sometimes user have multiple user profiles (and multiple email addresses), e.g. one as author and one as reviewer.
