New process (since August 2020)
We are now pilot-testing JMIR Publications' Digital License to Publish (via Dropbox Sign) where all authors get an automated email (currently on acceptance) with a request for a digital signature.
The process will fail if corresponding authors have not entered the email address or names of their coauthors correctly in the metadata form on submission.
In this case, the old process described here can be used, but we urge authors to correct/verify the email addresses of their coauthors in the metadata form as well (see How do I edit/correct/enter article metadata before publication? ).
Old process:
The license to publish form (aka publication form) can be found here:
https://s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/assets.jmir.org/assets/public/JMIR-forms1.pdf
You will not have to sign over copyright to JMIR as we are an open access journal, so you will have to sign this agreement allowing us to publish it under a Creative Commons License. The form also certifies that you own the copyright, and that all conflicts of interest are declared.
As soon as possible after acceptance of your paper, please upload the completed form signed by all authors to your online account as supplementary file (choose the "License to Publish" file type).
The system will send you reminders if an accepted manuscript has no file uploaded under the License to Publish" category in the "Supp Files" section. If you still get reminders even though the License to publish is uploaded, please make sure you uploaded it under "License to publish".
Please note that we do not require all authors to sign the same copy of the form — authors are often in different cities or countries, and physically mailing forms back and forth is neither convenient nor environmentally friendly. We also accept digital signatures if they are created using a trustworthy signing tool like Dropbox Sign (formerly Hellosign). If either of these options is used, we highly appreciate the consolidation of all signatures into one PDF file before uploading.
