For journal-specific announcements (e.g., for new indexing announcements) and calls for papers for theme issues/e-collections etc please check the announcement section in each journal.
A link to the announcement section can be found in the footer of each journal homepage. The general URL format is http://(journalBaseURL)/announcement, for example http://www.jmir.org/announcement.
Announcements across all JMIR journals can also be found on the Announcements section of the publisher website, https://jmirpublications.com/announcements. Selecting the checkbox at the bottom of an announcement "Display on corporate website" will render to the publisher website.
Step 1. Create an announcement.
Follow instructions at: (for staff) Create an Announcement in OJS
- Make sure to add the location and date at the beginning of the announcement in the format of: (Toronto, [full month name] [date], [year]) -- for example: (Toronto, January 17, 2025) followed by a space before the content begins.
- Note that different announcements require different staff/editor inputs in their draft versions; for example, preparing a Call for Papers (for a theme issue) usually involves the journal's Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief, and Guest Editor(s). The Scientific Editor or Scientific Editorial Director would also be consulted to confirm the content.
- Copyediting may be a necessary step also, for example, for Calls for Papers or anything for a press release, this is typically recommended. For templated announcements, such as for indexing, these are fairly standard and reused from past announcements, so new copyediting for an indexing announcement is not typically needed.
- An announcement also is typically prepared even for closed calls for papers related to conferences. For example: https://apinj.jmir.org/announcements/537 and https://medinform.jmir.org/announcements/533
Step 2. Prepare and save the announcement
Follow instructions at: (for staff) Create an Announcement in OJS
